Would you like extra spam with that?
In the last 5 days and 12 hours, I have identified and tagged 1879 messages as spam, out of a total of 3424. Of these 1879, I have rejected 1367 automatically, during the SMTP conversation.

54.8% of my incoming email is spam. And that's not counting the stuff where I wasn't sure enough to tag it!

Only 55%? For my personal email it's more like 70%.

I have to use no less than three filters:
Layer 1 - the Spamhaus SBL/XBL.
Layer 2 - SpamAssassin. Including the DCC and Bayesian filtering.
Layer 3 - Apple Mail.app spamfilter

Between them, I get virtually all the spam (with an extremely low false positive rate). The SBL/XBL alone rejects over 1000 messages *per day* on my server. SpamAssassin catches a similar number that pass the SBL-XBL. (I use SBL/XBL first because it's much less computationally intensive than SpamAssassin, and the effect of getting rid of those 1000 with virtually no CPU effort helps during busy times).

Admittedly, I think I have more email users than you do.
