I busted my multi ride. When he pulled the engine on the engine-failure-before-rotation, I stood on the right rudder (literally! my butt was out of the seat), but didn't pull the throttles back. I'd never done it before, and my tailwheel time kicked in, instead of my multi time. My CFI got a reaming for not doing it with me in training.

My retest is scheduled for next Saturday afternoon. I just need to redo the engine-failure-before-takeoff, he said he'd like to see me redo the engine-failure-after-takeoff, since I'd forgotten to get the gear up (although I had established a positive rate of climb with it down, so he wouldn't have busted me on just that), and the single engine landing, which we didn't get to.

The stupid thing is that I did so well on the hard stuff. Vmc demo went great, the single-engine ILS I just nailed...but I botched the easiest thing on the ride.

I never have problems remembering to get the gear down, but I'm really struggling with remembering to get it up. This wasn't the first time I'd forgotten to lift it. Dru says more practice will fix it...

*sigh* My first busted checkride. It sucks.

Man, that sucks. I'm sorry.

BTW: I have the same problem remembering to raise the gear on take-off and missed approaches.

Could be worse...you could have a problem remembering to lower the gear afterwards!

Don't feel alone: I busted my multi-ride on something far worse than that. I busted the friggin' oral due to poor preparation on weight & balance. It was as stupid as that. I felt very bad as it was absolutely unforgivable. I didn't have the right CofG chart for the plane.

The second time around was fine though.
