If one more thing happens today... - Tina Marie's Ramblings
Red hair and black leather, my favorite colour scheme...
If one more thing happens today...
...I'm going to scream.

Last night, when I got home, I couldn't find my pilot logbook. It was nowhere. I called Michael, and he looked around his apartment and around the hanger, and it wasn't there. It wasn't in my car, it wasn't in my apartment, and I knew it wasn't at my office.

And I had to have it for my checkride tomorrow.

I found it. When I returned the stack of DVDs to Blockbuster, it was in the stack of DVDs, and it's black and roughly the size of a DVD case, so it went in the slot with the DVDs. At 10pm last night, I finally called them, and sure enough, they had it, so I drove over and picked it up.

Then I realized my written test results are also nowhere to be found, and I also have to have those for tomorrow. A call to the FAA got me the exam ID, letting me pull a copy out of the FAA system, but it's not an official copy, so I'm not sure he's going to accept it.

I got in to work this morning to discover that someone had found a bug in the product we're supposed to ship today, and I've spent all day tracking it down and rebuilding things.

An hour ago, someone else found a different bug that turned out to be "user installed wrong version", but still required me to figure that out.

On top of all that, I realized yesterday that when I'd reformatted the machine that became backups.tripacerdriver.com, I forgot to backup my Quicken data, so I'd lost all my scheduled payments, including the name/address of the guy I send my hangar rent check to every month.

After a half-dozen phone calls, I got his name and address from my bank.

And I still have to finish my cross-country planning for tomorrow.

I simply cannot handle any more crisises today.

Current Mood: stressed stressed

Good GRIEF Tina Marie, lock the doors, pull the shades and hide under the bed. And whatever you do don't answer the phone.

Don't sweat

Don't sweat the checkride.

I busted my multi-ride the first time on really stupid stuff. It hurt at the time, but I knew deep in my mind I could just take it again, and three years down the road it'd just be a humiliating anecdote.

Good luck on the check ride. I'm sure you know it all, so it's just a matter of making sure checkride-itis doesn't make you do something dumb that you'll be kicking yourself over.

I've only done two checkrides (although the first one was broken into three parts), and the examiner did a good job of making me feel relaxed. Unfortunately he died this fall in a plane crash (rumour has it that he didn't fuel up even though both the mechanic who'd worked on his plane and the line guy offered to fuel him up and he ran out of fuel on a 30 mile trip) and I'm not looking forward to trying a different examiner.

We're still waiting for the results of your checkride.
