Tina's rules of life.
#3 - It is not necessary to save the coloring books for a special occasion. The same is true of the special candle we can't burn, the special crayons we can't use, the special outfit we can't wear. Things don't last forever - you outgrow them, they melt, they get lost or broken - and you shouldn't waste the opportunity to enjoy them while they do last.

Man, that's a good one. Wish I'd known it when I was young - I "saved" a lot of things until I lost them, outgrew them, or just got so I didn't care about them any more. One good example I still have is a gigantic bumper sticker, maybe 5 feet long, that says "Jarvinen Ski Team". I won it in a cross country ski race, but I didn't put it on my car because it was an old beater and I didn't want to waste it on a car I wouldn't have for long. But by the time I could afford a new car I wasn't ski racing any more, so I didn't really have a desire for gigantic ski team bumper sticker.

(Actually, there's probably a correlation there about being a ski bum and not having any money that I don't want to get into...)
