Things I have learnt while scuba diving, Part 1.
We finished up our open water dives this weekend, at Twin Lakes Scuba Park. Picture a 40-ft-deep hole in the ground, filled with water, and a handfull of fish. World-class scuba diving it wasn't. :)

But yesterday, we're sitting on this platform 20 ft under the water, practicing emergency procedures and such. A sunfish swam up to us, and just sat there and looked at me. I looked back, poked my buddy, and pointed at the fish - and the fish swam up and bit the end of my finger.

Today, when we were done and certified, we got our tanks refilled and went off for a solo dive. We're down around 30 ft, and now there are a bunch of sunfish. I poked my buddy, pointed at the fish - and promptly got bit again.

Our instructor said it's because people feed them, and they assume anything held out to them is food.

Still, one does not expect to be bitten by a sunfish.

(I guess I need a new diving userpic)
