Getting started....
I haven't kept a diary in years.

In high school, I intermittently filled pages with crushes, complaints, problems with my parents - anything things were going really good or really bad, I wrote about them. Then, when things came back to normal, I'd stop. Going back and reading these makes my life look like it was a endless series of ups and downs, when really it wasn't.

As I grew up, I started and stopped even more intermittently - I have a lot of journals from the beginning of relationships, and a lot from the ends. But never anything about the middles.

When I started flying, the FAA required me to keep a logbook of my flights, with times, dates, airplanes, and one line for 'Remarks'. Over the years, I've really enjoyed filling those in, and I've enjoyed even more going back and reading them. Along the way, I realized that the ones I find myself remembering most fondly are the everyday flights - the ones that I would have forgotten if they hadn't been written down.

I've got a few goals for this journal, then. First, maybe I'll enjoy writing about the trivia of everyday life, and maybe somebody will enjoy reading it. On top of that, I have a few New Year's Resolutions, and this seemed as good a place as any to keep track of my progress.

My resolutions:

Get more active
Eat breakfast everyday

Trivial, eh? In pursuit of the first, I bought a DDR game. I've been bouncing on it pretty much all my free time - after work, before work, and even thinking about it when I'm at work. I'll probably burn out (hopefully before my knees do), but in the meantime I'm moving around a lot, having a blast, and annoying the neighbors. I feel so much better when I'm more active - I sleep better, wake up in a better mood, and I can focus better during the day. The nice thing about DDR is that it lets me be active with less hassle - I don't have to get dressed and go to the gym, I don't have to drag out some piece of equipment, I can just boot the PlayStation on, and bounce around on the pad. It'll be interesting to see how long my enthusiasm lasts.

Breakfast was a bagel, buttered, and some hash browns.

Along the same self-improvement lines, I really need to stop biting my nails. :)
