Mike and I were playing Galaxies last night, and we finally made it into Jabba's throne room, so we took some pictures (I'm the purple Mon Calamari):

I really like this game. :)

In less amusing news, our company is in the middle of a process improvement assessment. I've been chosen as one of the developers to participate. It's going to be a lot of meetings over the next week...

Current Mood: tired tired

Aaaah, I was on the PIT (Process Improvement Team) as the development representitive when I worked for IBM on the USPS project. What joy those days were. Not.

However, being an SEI CMM level 3 organization *really* helped code quality a lot. We were working on level 4 when I left. Trouble is with the levels above 3, you hit diminishing returns for seemingly exponentially more process. (The Shuttle software project was SEI CMM level 5, the highest level, IIRC).

We had independent auditors come round from time to time at short notice to make sure we really were keeping up with SEI CMM level 3. I was invariably involved in the audits. One of the games we liked to play to make it a bit more bearable was to see if we could work the word "aardvark" into the meetings with the auditors somewhere :-)

On the games front, I've been playing a lot of Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory lately. (It's a free game. It runs under Linux too). I tend to play as Covert Ops. It's great fun. I love setting up ambushes :-)

We're looking at doing CMM. I actually found the assessment process to be pretty interesting - just answering the questions made me think a lot about the places our processes work and don't work.

I've got a new game to play while compiling:

tinamarief got their Neopet at http://www.neopets.com

It's a little virtual pet, and you earn money to feed/buy toys for it by playing little games, most of which take about 5 minutes. They're great for a quick diversion while on the phone or whatever. It's got literally dozens of games, so there's always something I'm in the mood for...
