I know why the caged gecko sings...
We went to the motorcycle show this morning, and I saw something truly terrifying: The Geico gecko, showing off his nipple rings.

Here's a closeup:

My neighbor said, "Those aren't nipple rings - they're tiedown points!".

I bit my tongue.

I didn't see any bikes this year that I positively had to bring home. The new Buell is too tall, I'm never really going to buy a 'Busa, and the BMW sport tourer is just too expensive. That was reinforced for me when we went to pick up Mike's bike at the dealership (he was getting a GPS mount), and a guy pulled up on a week-old BMW, with road rash covering the entire left side of both his fairings and his leg. I don't think I'd want to survive wrecking a week-old $12,000 bike.

Anyway, we did see one cool thing at the motorcycle show - the perfect trailer: The Trailer In A Bag. We wanted a trailer for track days, but we don't even have enough space for the ones that fold against the wall. This looks like the perfect solution, and it's not unreasonably expensive. I'll probably order one when I get healed.

They're promising to take my pins out on Thursday! I expect it'll be a lot less painful once they're out.

I'm just hoping to be back to normal by Christmas. People will grumble if I don't make Christmas candy. :)

Remind me that while I'm in town I want to talk to you about the Urals/Dnepers.

I'll try to remember. We have a Russian motorcycle guy at work, but I'm not sure if he rode while he was there.

Cool. I want to try and find out how practical they are for more than casual weekend riding.

nope, those are definitely tie-down points. besides, lizards don't have nipples...

I have no trouble believing that whatever mutation caused him to walk upright and sell car insurance could also have given him nipples. :)

it occurs to me that nipple rings could be used as tie-down points...

Hi!

I'm lurking on your journal 'cause you friended me (dare I ask why? ;-) )

Anyway I also have a cat named Newt.

So Hi!

Why not? :)

I spend a lot of time mostly lurking on motorcycles, and I've seen you around there, and your personal journal looked interesting, so I friended you. :)

OK! Neato!

I'll warn you, my journal's mostly friends-only, so when I (man I hate using "friend" as a verb)... add you to my flist you're going to have access to a lot of pointless, timewasting garbage.

Have a ball!

:-D

(Also, sorry to hear about your getoff ... been there. Crashing sucks.)

My uncle Bob rides BMW motorcycles, and has done for years (he only has a motorcycle license, never bothered learning to drive cars). He doesn't own a new one though.

It's funny - if you go to where he lives, there's 4 BMW bikes on the path to the house - the one that he currently rides, then the last three in chronological order in worse and worse states of repair as you go down the road, the oldest one being a pile of corroded scrap!
