Quick update...
I went to the orthopedist today. Apparently, it's really badly broken. He said, "Nothing's in the right place!". I'm to expect a plate, some screws, and some wire. Surgery's scheduled for Wednesday.

The adjuster is coming to look at the bike in the morning, but he said on the phone that if the fairings were damaged, they'd probably total it, but i could buy it back for 30% of what they offered me. I'll probably do that, since Mike took it out tonight and said it's ridable.

Enough typing for tonight. :)

Holy ouch. :(

Also, many many thanks.

Also also, if you still have the 'pacer this time next year, I'll most likely want to transplant the engine into my RV.

Totaled? (from Hiromi)

I'm curious, do you owe anything on the bike? 'cause I'm wondering why you'd have to buy it back.

Re: Totaled? (from Hiromi)

Because i'd rather fix it myself then go buy a new bike. There's a kit to take off the fairings, and I think it looks cool.

Ouch. Ask my Dad about badly broken wrists. He nearly lost his hand when he crashed in practise at the Isle of Man TT in 1995. He now has bones missing (his was really, really bad). Still doesn't stop him from racing though!

One thing my Dad did do more recently (nothing to do with injuries) is buy a 'pocket rocket' (one of those little 400 cc Japanese bikes built for the domestic market that go like shit off a shovel) which someone had dropped and buggered the fairing. You can usually get a 3rd party "pattern" fairing for a fraction of the price of the manufacturer's official one, and no one can tell the difference.

But get well soon and all that. Hurting sucks.
