I am the idiot. - Tina Marie's Ramblings
Red hair and black leather, my favorite colour scheme...
I am the idiot.

It looked like a nice day to go riding. Actually, it looked like it was going to rain, but we were going west, and it was much nicer in that direction.

We headed out to Luling, TX, and had some really amazing BBQ. Much fun was had by all, until about 5 miles outside of Waller, TX.

That's where I went into a corner too fast, hit a slippery patch, and went off the road. The bike and I parted ways, and both tumbled though the grass. Luckily, I didn't hit the ground until I was in the grass.

A very nice older couple stopped, let me put the bike in their truck, and drove me to the ER while Mike followed. I was wearing gear, so I only have a few small abrasions on one side...and a broken right wrist. The ER put it in a splint and told me to call an orthopedic guy on Monday.

The bike may be ridable - they're going to bring it back to me tomorrow. I know the cowling is cracked, both mirrors are missing, both turn signals are missing, and it's got some new scratches.

Work is going to be very interesting for a while with only one hand to type with.

I feel like such an idiot.

My wrist:
My side:
The medieval torture device they used to try and get the bones lined back up (yes, it was just as much fun as it looks):

Needless to say, I'm probably not going to be doing much email or commenting for a while. Oddly, the iPhone is the best interface I have for email, since it doesn't use a mouse. And no WoW, since I can't play with only one hand.

It's going to be a long next few weeks.

Ouch! Great news it wasn't worse, though. Extra hugs!

Poor thing!!! Next time we're down at IAH we'll have to bring by some sympathy flowers or AvGas or something.
Get well!

Is the airfield in your avatar Grand Junction, Colorado? Looks like it. Stopped there several times for fuel, when flying between Houston and SLC.

Ow. Fsck. I know what it's like, I spent three months without the use of my right hand after breaking glass sliced through to the bone - no breaks, but all the flexor tendons cut right through. Fortunately, my ZX Spectrum didn't have a mouse, but one-handed typing was not fun. Especially when trying to play Shades. Typing "st ls from lordant" (steal the rusty longsword from Lordant) in the heat of battle with another player, followed by "Your light handed antics failed!" followed by one-handed typing of "FLEE OUT" - and getting killed before being able to type it all in - wasn't fun! Damn, there goes half my points. The joy of hack-and-slash player killing MUDs when you can't type!

I never did make Wizard on that game.

That's suck. I'll be praying for your quick recovery.

In the meantime, it sounds like a perfect opportunity to do a little paired programming. Find an junior/mid-level programmer and pair up! Make them do the typing while you sit back, mentor and generally boss them around.

Oh dear, oh dear!

Sorry to hear about this!

Get well soon!

I feel your pain.
Had my front valve stem pop out at 70mph, and managed to dump it before the bike flipped, but ended up with a broken left wrist, rib, and rash on my nose.
Get better, and keep riding!
