Today was one of those perfect riding days we so rarely have in the summer. On the way to work, it was 75 and breezy. It was so nice out that I walked into DMV with a smile on my face!

I've been reading a lot of random personal-finance RSS feeds lately, and they've all been talking about how important it is to pay down credit cards before you drown in interest expenses. And I had a realization yesterday - all my unfinished projects are drowning me in the same way. Every Saturday, when I wake up and mentally run down all the projects I should be working on, it sucks just a little bit of energy and enthusiasm out of me. The longer I put them off, the worse it gets. And honestly, I won't ever have the time or energy to finish all of them. This includes the Buell, the Bobcat, the Tripacer, the countless house projects - each one sucks just a little bit of energy and enthusiasm and joy out of my life.

So yesterday, I put the Buell on Craigslist, and the Bobcat in Trade-A-Plane. This morning I went by DMV to pick up a replacement title, since I'd lost the original in the move, then after work I rode out to the airport tonight to meet the buyer. It was another perfect ride - it rained all day, but stopped just before I left the office. Once again, it was 75 and breezy, late enough that I wasn't fighting traffic, and all-in-all a perfect riding evening.

And now I have one less thing in my life to worry about. I'm hoping the Bobcat is next.

No, it's not been running for nearly a year. I still have the GS500.

Heresy!

I know this is heresy, but...

When was the last time the Tripacer was airborne? When was the last time it was airworthy? You don't talk about flying it (or going out to the hangar) as you used to.

Re: Heresy!

And that's a good bit of why I'm getting rid of the stuff in the hanger. I'm hoping to get it sold this fall.

Re: Heresy!

You'd actually sell it?

First Dvorak says he likes the Mac, then you're selling your plane... what's that weather forecast in hell?

Hmm. I know the feeling. I've overextended myself with projects this year (mainly the electronics one). The solution for me is to prioritize them - the important one is the high-power bike light, so I'll try and get that done this week.

I might as well defer the atmospheric soundings project because it turns out that the Auster is probably going to need a new motor - the new prop is not tracking straight (so badly it fouls the cowling) so the crank is bent where it leaves the casing and joins the flange the prop bolts to :-( so, instead, the weather computer could do with finishing next.

Fortunately these projects are all much smaller than aircraft-type projects, but still, when they start building up ... I know the feeling of loss of motivation!
