Games - Tina Marie's Ramblings
Red hair and black leather, my favorite colour scheme...
Somebody who used to work for BindView set up a TradeWars server. It's an old text-based game from the BBS days.

Over the last week, I've spent an enormous amount of time logged in, writing code to play the game automatically for me. It doesn't seem worth the time to sit and play it myself, but I can spend weeks programming a client to play it for me.

I'm wierd, I think.

(for the geeks - I have two sockets, one that connects to the server, and one that accepts connections from a telnet client. I just shuffle data back and forth between the sockets, with a series of parser classes that process the text. So I can build maps, auto-haggle when trading, auto-move between planets, and so on. It's much fun.)

Did you write your thing in Perl? Great for doing socket things with the IO::Socket::INET module, and IO::Select if you need to call select() on various fds.
