But it's not even October yet! - Tina Marie's Ramblings

But it's not even October yet!

Since photochallenge seems to have gone away, I joined a new photo comm - snapshot_hunter. This week's theme is "Autumn", and the picture to the right is my entry for the week.

We don't really get autumn here, and when we do it doesn't happen this early. Trees aren't even beginning to change color, for example. Out of desperation, I hit the local garden store on the way to my mother's this morning, and got lucky enough to find some pumpkins. I was afraid they'd run me off, since I was obviously both a) taking pictures and b) not buying anything, but no one said anything.

( All the pictures from this morning... )

On the way home, I stopped at JC Penny to find out when my shades go on sale, since I have my windows now. They'll be 65% off, plus an extra 15% off that, next week, so I'm going to measure this week and then go back next week to order them.

Anyway, when I walked in the store, I was greeted with...Christmas decorations! Already. It's still a month before Halloween. In a few more years, stores won't ever put their Christmas decorations away - they'll just have a "Christmas" section open year-round. When I was a kid, stores put out Christmas stuff the day after Thanksgiving...but it seems like every year it gets earlier.

Or maybe I'm just getting grumpy in my old age.

Current Mood: relaxed relaxed

Nice pumpkins!

You're right about stores putting Christmas stuff up earlier and earlier. Fortunately, this also means they start discounting summer stuff earlier and earlier. I got a large European fan palm for the front of my house at less than half price from the hardware store (equivalent of about $100 off).
