I found the place I want to buy a townhouse:

http://www.pineypointplace.com/FeaturedHomes/OneBedrooms/default.aspx

It's a bit more then I wanted to spend, but they're everything I ever wanted. Only a few blocks further from work then where I am now....

My lease is up in May.

Current Mood: optimistic optimistic

$125K for a one bedroom townhouse? Did I mention that we sold our 2 bedroom (plus finished attic loft) house for $85K, and bought a magnificent 5 bedroom 3 story house for $250K? I know, "location, location, location". That's the price you have to pay for not having to deal with icing conditions 6 months of the year.

Actually, if I was willing to move out to the suburbs, I could get something for half that. But this is less then 10 minutes from the main business district....

And I won't give up 1.5 hours a day to commuting.

Actually, the Houston area is cheap...if you don't want to live near the CBD. Out where I lived (south of Clear Lake) you could get a decent sized house (freehold, not leasehold, which I suspect a townhouse is) for $125K. If you were happy to live in somewhere like La Marque or Texas City, then you could buy a 2 bedroom house for about $40K.

But put it this way, if Texas had an enema, Texas City is where they'd stuff the pipe. Texas City is a monument to why environmental laws need to be much *stronger* despite what certain clue-resistant people on rec.aviation.piloting think.

Anyway. Enough of that rant.

Of course, where I live now is almost up with San Fransisco on overpriced property (but at least my house is made out of stone and the whole place is geologically stable!)
