Apologies in advance - my 'net connection here isn't the greatest, so I'm not going to get all the comments replied to until I get home.

It took us 1.5 hours to get to Michael's last night. Roads are terrible, with people sitting for hours without moving on the freeway. We made it in only 1.5 hours by taking back roads. We got to his place (5 mins from the airport) around midnight, and got to bed around 1. My cell phone rang at 7:30am (you know who you were. :).

So we were in the air by 9, and here by 7pm. I had to leave the Tripacer - she's in pieces, so I secured the hanger as best I could. We brought the twin up here.

I expect to do a lot of getting-rid-of-junk when I get home. I walked out of my apartment with a laptop, a handfull of clothes, my pre-packed pile of toiletry junk, my digital camera, and my iPod. The only thing else I should have taken that I didn't was my logbooks. Some of them are backed up online, but only up until August of last year.

And, really, if I can walk away from all the other junk without worrying about it, do I really need it cluttering up my life?

Bedtime. Good luck to everyone who is still in town...

Good luck, sweetheart. I can't even imagine what you're going through.

Dad says to tell you that he got a really good price for a Tripacer, and the buyer didn't even care that it was out of annual!

Tell him I know where his hanger is. And I could use a brand-new engine.

Looks like Rita's probable course is swinging more northerly - now Houston is at the southern end of the predicted landfall (so if it does hit Houston, hopefully it won't be the dirty side of the storm).

Our favorite aircraft mechanic is based at Galveston Scholes. I hope he has a business to go back to.
