SF, day 2.
We wandered back down to Fisherman's Wharf. I never bother with a car here - I always just do the public transportation thing. It works great in December, when I'm usually here.

In August, it doesn't work so well. Everything is packed. We've been waiting an hour at a time for cable cars. The trolleys are packed.

But it still beats driving.

Anyway, we did the cable car museum, a Liberty Ship tour of a running ship - they actually still take it out. I never understood taking technology, pickling it, and putting it in a building, when you could still operate it. Museums of 'dead' technology tend to bore me - but I can spend all day watching the cable car drive train working. In the same way, I don't understand hanging airplanes from the ceiling. Old Reinbeck has it right - restore them, and fly them!

No particularly good pictures from yesterday. The rest of the ones I've taken so far are here - I finally got them uploaded and sized. I was hoping for some night shots of the Golden Gate bridge at night, but the visibility was terrible by dark last night.

If you get the chance, head up the Coit Tower and check out the view. It's the round tower up on a hill (Telegraph Hill, google tells me) ESE from Fisherman's Wharf, hard to miss it sticking up in the sky.

Sounds like you're having fun though - and you're making me want to visit SF again.

I've been there, although we don't plan to hit it this trip. I might see if it's open late, and try to get my night shot of the bridge from there.

I love it here - I try to make it at least once a year. :)
