My email box has been filling up with people asking me about the hurricane. Yes, it's coming, no, we're not leaving. I went by the store yesterday and grabbed some lunchmeat and bread and cheese and such. You could forget about getting water:
So, like most people, we're just going to wait it out. I'm mostly worried about losing power for a long period of time, but I turned the fridge/freezer down as low as it would go to help keep it cold, and we have a natural gas grill down by the pool area that 89 of us can bicker over when it's time to cook. I'm going to throw a pork shoulder in the crockpot today, and we can always eat that cold the rest of the weekend if we have to. And, worst case, I hear driftingfocus's parents have a generator, so we can always go crash in their guest room. :) I debated moving the airplane - it's at 29 ft MSL in a 30-foot storm surge area - but I ultimately decided it would be safer at home in the hanger then tied down on a ramp somewhere 200 miles away. In other news, I've been getting these random mails on Flickr about people wanting to use my pictures in various online things. I usually just say yes and forget about it, but these guys actually sent me a link when they put it up: Trader's VillageTags: ike
