Why is it, that for the 2nd time this week, the team got a lecture about being on time, working harder, getting things done in less time - while our boss gets in at 10:15 and leaves at 5 on the dot?

Add to that the other lecture we got about how disappointed marketing was in our last release, and I'm fed up. Were they upset because they thought it was buggy, or because it wasn't on time? No, they were annoyed that we didn't have enough flashy new features that they could show users. We rewrote nearly the entire back end in less then 6 months! And they are the ones that generate the lists of features - they got everything they put into the requirements document - the only features they wanted but didn't get were things they tried to get shoehorned in after we were already feature-complete.

I feel unappreciated.

Now THAT'S one a hell of a bad manager. Using "Do as I say, not as I do" is the quickest route I can think of to generate droves of disgruntled employees.

Hopefully this isn't setting the stage for offshoring. "See? Not only didn't they produce what we asked, but I've had to lecture them on attendance AND they're disgruntled!"

If you think that's paranoid...you'd be right.

Now you know why I haven't found Dilbert funny for a long, long time.
