Looking for a solution.

I'm looking for something that will hold a book roughly this size open in my desk.

It's too big for a cookbook holder. Right now I'm sitting something heavy on it, but it blocks my view of the text.

Any ideas?

I've used mine to hold textbooks. They'll do it.

how big is the book when fully opened out? get a sheet of 3/8" or thicker clear acrylic (Lexan, Plexiglas, etc.) that's at least two inches bigger all around. then just lay the Plexi on top of the opened book. (yeah, you'll have to pick it up to turn the page, but you have to do that anyway with the makeshift weight you're using now.)

Some stationers and bookstores sell specialized bookweights that don't obscure so much text:

Put a B&N nook on it?

Wow, now that's an interesting idea. It honestly didn't occur to me to just re-purchase the book for the Nook.

I wonder if I can convince my boss to buy me a technical-books Nook. :)

Well, I meant "use the nook as a bookmark", but your way works, too. :)

I don't know if O'Reily Safari lets you download tech books for Nook, but you should have your boss get you a Safari account.

Save your soul while you still can and stop coding in .NET. ;)
