I had one of those lovely gastronomic delights yesterday!!! MmmmmmmmmMcRib.... and I don't know about up there, but we also get SWEET POTATO PIE down here in Georgia!!

I don't think I've ever seen sweet potato pies at McDonalds. Our Whataburger has them sometimes, and they do pies right - deep fried! None of this baked healthy stuff. :)

Whataburger..... we don't have the Wonderful Whataburgers anymore... sniff. Yeah, this pretend healthy shit about "we don't FRY our pie-pies, we BAKE them" is just stupid. It's still a big ol' hunk of fat'n'sugar, how you freakin' cook it isn't the issue....

After my doughnut-making fun, I'm tempted to do a batch of deep-fried pies next...

Oh! This is the BEST dough... it uses chilled vodka in place of some of the water, and is absolutely fool proof. You might have to register to see it, but it's free. This is the only pie crust I make now.

We make fried apple pies with it. We find that Crisco works best, it gives a wonderful crisp finish to the pies, and doesn't seem to soak into the crust as bad as liquid vegetable oil.

Oh yeah, we've also discovered that grating the apples into coarse shreds works great for fried pies and for regular pie. The apple seems to sort of melt. Nom nom nom.

And I have decided, I must try making some yeast doughnuts. After I make the Incredible Coconut Layer Cake...

Yep! Came out this week. I don't usually go anywhere for lunch - I work next door to a grocery store, so I keep the freezer here stocked with frozen lunch stuff - but I couldn't resist the siren call of the McRib. :)

Yes indeedy do. I guess on the East Coast they snuck them out sooner, but I think they're going to be nationwide on the 4th...

Snuck? Sneaked? Whatever, WE HAVE McRIBS!!!!!

I keep seeing ads for Skyline and think of you - your boyfriend Eric Balfour is starring in it!

I know... I keep saying I want to go to Eric Balfour Land and take a ride on the Amazing SoulPatch. Mike is remarkably tolerant of me.
